In the last few years, we have noticed an important change in our working area: common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) once very rare encounters of our whale watching tours, are nowadays much more frequent to spot.
What caused this change? How many dolphins inhabit the area? What kind of threats are facing in the very busy western Ligurian coast?
There is only one way to uncover these important questions: go out at sea, collect data on dolphins’ presence and distribution and then analyse them!
Our study area includes the coastal areas between Capo Noli and San remo
The project has already started and if you want you can join us. Contact us for any further information.
We plan to go out at sea 10-15 times per month, according to the weather conditions, for a year collecting data, and then if successful, to continue this project long-term.
We want to thanks all our supporter both sponsor and people participating in our
Crowdfunding Campaign to help us going on with this significant research project.
